Megan Lehnhoff - 09/21/2007
Our new rider of the week is Megan Lehnhoff. Megan works at Valero in Organizational Development and enjoys it very much. "Previously, I taught high school for a few years. My hobbies include yoga, running, cycling, bow hunting, camping, and traveling."
Like a lot of riders, Megan got into cycling through another sport. "I swam competitively for most of my life and always wanted to do a triathlon. Cycling was the piece I didn’t have. I was scared of cars and getting hit and so I never tried it. Finally, after hearing enough people say, 'Don’t let that be the reason you don’t ride,' I decided to give it a try." Megan started riding seriously this summer, and participated in the six week San Antonio Wheelmen Rider Education Series (RES). This was a really great experience, and gave her a lot of confidence on the road. "Hopefully I can do a triathlon sometime next year," she says.
When asked why she wants to do the MS 150, Megan replied, "It seemed like a lot of fun, a great way to meet people, and it’s definitely for a good cause. I enjoy athletic challenges, so it’s totally my cup of tea. John Leonard, my old boss, used to always try to convince me to join Velo Valero for the MS 150, and I finally decided, 'Why not give it a try?!'"

Megan on the road
Like many team members, Megan is training hard to prepare for the MS 150, and she's doing this by combining time on the bike with other types of cardio activity. "I mostly just do a long ride every Saturday morning. I’m up to 70 miles now. I try to get in spin classes or another ride during the week, but because of my travel schedule, it doesn’t always happen. I am also training for the Houston Marathon in January so I spend a lot of time running during the week as well."
We are glad to have you Megan!
