    Katy Flatland

The 2007 Katy Flatland is scheduled for Sunday, July 15, 2007.  There are distances of 30, 50, 62, 100 miles. No fundraising is required; registration is $20 before July 1, $25 after.  A small but dedicated group of Velo Valero riders will particiapte.

David Sloan will be out Ride Captain for the event, and will be driving the new Team Truck.  This is his itinerary.

Some of us who are coming from San Antonio would like to get together and meet as many of the other Velo Valero riders as possible.  To that end, we have the following available options:

    • We will be driving the very visible Valero MS-150 Bike To The Beach Toyota Tundra truck to the event.  We will be picking up our packets early Saturday afternoon at Northwest Cyclery in Houston - Hwy. 290 & Jones Rd.  If  you see the truck, we will be there.  I will probably have a Valero MS-150 T-shirt on, so say "Hi" and introduce yourself.
    • At around 5:30 pm on Saturday, we will be at the Goode Company fish restaurant #1 located at 2621 Westpark Drive (just West of Kirby),  Houston, TX 77098-5015, Phone: 713-523-7154.  This one is less formal than the location on the Katy Fwy. and hopefully closer to folks coming from the Houston refinery.  Again, look for the Toyota Tundra dressed in MS-150 colors, and maybe a Velo Valero jersey or MS-150 T-shirt.
    • We will plan to park the Toyota Tundra MS-150 truck near the Bass Pro Shop on the North side of Katy Mills Mall on Sunday morning, and Velo Valero can use that as a meeting point prior to moving to the start line-up around 6:45 +/-.  The ride starts at 7:00 AM, so we will be in the parking lot by 6:30 latest and probably before that.  Velo Valero jersies are <<de rigueur>> for the ride, and I hope to see lots of them

...I am hoping for a nice, cool, overcast, low humidity, dry ride, but in the past two years I have experienced everything from hail, lightening, and rain pouring like from buckets to clear HOT and humid conditions.  I am looking forward to whatever this year's ride brings.  Please send me an e-mail david.sloan@valero.com if you plan on doing the ride and/or attending any of our planned activities.  You can also call me on my call at 210-862-2714.
