Our newest Fundraising Superstar is Tanya Carrasco, who works at Valero HQ in San Antonio in the OD department and is a founding member of the newVcrew.
Why Do You Ride?
It was last year’s Bike to the Beach when I first thought about being a part of such a great cause, but I was too late for training when I learned about the ride so instead I lived vicariously through my friend and co-worker at the time, Megan Lehnhoff, Megan sent inspirational stories every Monday recapping her weekend rides (some even included terrifying tales of hungry dogs and such!). So, this year I was NOT going to miss the Bike to the Beach ride!! I ride to support a worthy cause and as an added bonus I have met some great friends!
How Do You Fundraise?
Fundraising has been much easier than I’d thought it would be, I sent an email to everyone I’ve ever met telling them about the ride and the cause and had a great response with donations. I also created a pledge form with my picture on it and asked my parents and husband to take it to work and pass it around to their co-workers (to-date they have raised $235 in cash donations to go towards my fundraising efforts – thank you!!).
As of Wednesday, September 3rd, Tanya has raised $475, which is not bad for her first year. We're glad to have you on board, Tanya, and keep up the good work!
