Team Message Sent from Captain Darrel Plants on 05/24

Darrel sent this to his team members on Thursday, 05/24 -

    Hello team members,

In just 10 short days, we'll all be subjecting our bodies to South Louisiana's excessively humid conditions and our lower torsos to several hours of arduous torture.  We will don clothing that, in some places in the world, would result in jail time.  And some of us will even voluntarily use a product named "Chamois Butter" (if you don't know, don't ask).  We sure do know how to have a good time!

For most of the St. Charles riders, this will be our first event of this kind.  For those venturing our way from the great state of Texas, thank you so much for supporting us in our "rookie year".  I am very excited about meeting you all and also the people participating with the Krotz Springs team.  This will be a great weekend.

I started our fund-raising goal at $3,000, not a bad start for a new team.  Two weeks later, I raised it to $4,000 and a week after that, $5,000.  We are currently at $5,375 and today I mailed in another $1,300.  These checks, as well as some on-line donations are being allocated to all the team members.  By this time next week, all of us will have a donation of at least $150 entered under his or her name.  By the 3rd, we may be up to $7,000.  This may not be the biggest total on the list, but I think it's pretty good for a first timer.

For those of you not familiar with St. Francisville, it is home to the Myrtles Plantation, known as the most haunted plantation in America.  Not to worry though...just bring a spare pair of underwear to bury behind your hotel, pour a ring of salt around it and do some nonsensical chanting for two minutes...you'll be just fine.
