The 2008 San Antonio Tour de Cure is scheduled for May 17-18th. This ride is between San Antonio and Austin, with a stopover on Saturday night in San Marcos. (Because we sleep in the university dorms, and schedule a recreational toobin' event on the river, it has been occasionally referred to as "Animal House on Wheels". But you didn't hear that from us...) The Tour de Cure is the traditional spring ride for Velo Valero, and former Velo Valero Board member and current NuStar Team Captain Ken Mayfield is the Event Chairperson. The minimum amount of fundraising you must do is $150, and all monies raised go towards finding a cure for diabetes.
What You Need to Do
- Sign up - Register for the event
- Get your bike inspected - click here for a list of participating bike shops in town that will do this for free
- Raise money - all Velo Valero riders are required to raise at least the minimum ($150) before the event - to see the current fundraising totals, click here - if you need help fundraising, please contact david.sloan@valero.com
