Last Sunday's Morning and Afternoon Ride Update Provided by Carl and John -
On Sunday morning, we had the first 2010 Sunday Funday Casual ride starting from the HEB parking lot in Leon Springs. There were several Velo Valero Board Members at the ride along with some new and some seasoned Velo Valero team members. Riders included Jacque Robertson, Lyn Holmes, Tim George, Jeff Porter, Nicole Brown, Bill Krupa and his daughter Ashley Krupa. The wind on Sunday morning was pretty strong, but we were determined to get to our destination, the Bear Moon Bakery in Boerne. It took us a little over an hour to reach our destination, but the work paid off when we sat down and had coffee, hot chocolate and an assortment of pastries. This is why I love riding, the ability to spend time with friends and cycling destinations like the Bear Moon Bakery in Boerne. A special congratulations needs to go out to one of Velo Valero’s newest members Ashley. This is her first year riding (4th ride). The ride on January 17th, was her first ride with Look pedals and last weekend the battled the wind like a champion. She will be riding in the Houston to Austin MS ride in April. I think that she is going to make it look easy. Thanks for riding, Carl
For those who decided to stay in the comfort of the indoors to watch a little football on Sunday afternoon, we sure missed you (we could have used some extra folks to draft behind, with the 40 mi/hr wind gusts). That being said, it was an awesome ride – sunny with perfect temps, and air so clear you could see forever. – We haven’t seen that much water go over the rocks on Edge Falls Rd. in a long time. It just doesn’t get much better than that for a winter ride in Texas. See you at the next ride, John.

Stay warm, dry, and most of all keep riding!
