The following memo was sent to all Valero Texas Employees on August 30th, 2006:
The
Valero MS 150 Bike to the Beach is just around the corner, and we hope to raise more money than ever before. With more than 2,300 riders already registered for the event, we are well on our way to reaching this year’s goal of having 4,000 cyclists and raising $1.5 million to fund research and help those who are fighting multiple sclerosis.
Scheduled for Oct. 7-8, the two-day ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi promises to be a rewarding experience for cyclists and volunteers alike. Whether you are an expert cyclist or a first-time rider, now is the time to register for the Valero MS 150 and join our own cycling team, Velo Valero. Last year’s team was not only the biggest, with 270 members; it was also the top fundraiser, donating $108,000. This year, Velo Valero hopes to have 300 members, and has set a goal to raise $125,000 to fight MS. If you’re interested in joining me and the rest of our team, please register online at http://www.ms150.org/b2b/register/. (Please be sure to list Velo Valero as your riding team.) For more information about the team, as well as training dates, go to www.velovalero.com.
The Volunteer Council is also looking for employees to volunteer at the event and to support our team. To check out the ways you can help, go to the Intranet home page, click on “Valero Volunteers,” and then go to “HQ Events.” After clicking on “MS 150 Bike to the Beach,” you will see a list of jobs under the SignUp icon.
Thanks for supporting the Valero MS 150 Bike to the Beach, and sharing our commitment to helping others.
