    Hello Velo Valero!
     
    Hope you are all having a great week!  Just wanted to touch base regarding a few things...
     
    TOUR De CURE
     
    Don't forget that Tour de Cure (May 20-21) is just around the corner and if you have not yet registered, NOW is the time. Tomorrow (3/31) is the last day for early bird registration.  Starting April 1st, registration will increase to $20.  Go to:  diabetes.org/tour register yourself today.  We are 25 people shy of our goal to have 100 riders this year.  It's going to be a great ride, it's a great cause, and we would love to have you and your family, friends and colleagues ride with us! 
     
     
    TRAINING RIDE THIS WEEKEND - Hotter than Salsa Ride
     
    WHEN:  Saturday, April 1st
     
    TIME:  Wheels down at 8:00 am - Registration from 6:30 -7:30 amEntry fee is $25 - Includes Free commemorative T-shirt!
     
    WHERE:   Three Rivers - Main Street - The Hotter Than Salsa Ride will start at the parking lot across US 281 from the Valero Corner Store, located at the southern  end of the town (it is within view of the City Hall Square).

    DISTANCE OPTIONS:  20, 35 and 50 miles
     
    Dress:  Please don't forget to wear your Valero Jerseys and shorts!!!!  Let's show our team spirit!!!
     
    Post event - Festivities:  Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and some extra cash to enjoy the Salsa Festival in the town square immediately following the ride.  Do plan to come and vote for our own teammate Kent Hamel's Salsa entry.  It's alot of fun and the weather forecast looks great!  See you Saturday!
     
    JERSEY ORDERS
     
    The final votes have come in and we are setting up the website for orders. 
     
    Watch your e-mail for the ordering details NEXT WEEK. This is going to be a quick turnaround so that we can get our jerseys back in time for all of the Tour de Cure events that our teams are participating in throughout the US. If you are only riding the MS 150 this year, remember that we will do jersey ordering again in AUGUST for the MS 150.

  • Training Rides, Salsa Ride Coming up!

    Hello Velo Valero!
     
    Well, we were rained out last weekend...hopefully, we will have better luck this weekend.  This week's training ride is as follows:
     
    WHEN:  Saturday, March 25th
     
    TIME:  Wheels down at 8:00 am
     
    WHERE:  **Castroville - Meet at the Park and Ride across from Sammy's Restaurant  
                   
    DISTANCE OPTIONS:  30 and 40 miles
     
    BEGINNERS:  Same schedule as last week.  Meet at Starbucks (IH-10 and Boerne Stage Road) near Leon Springs at 7:30 am - Distance 18-20 miles
     
     
     
    Don't forget about the Annual Three Rivers Hotter than Salsa Ride next weekend!   This will be our actual training ride for this weekend. You can pre-register or register at the event.  I know there were some issues with accessing the website, but Peter Ray worked with our security folks, so you can access this site now without issue.     We need YOU! to join Velo Valero

    for the 2006 Cycling Season!

     

    Whether you are hoping to shed a few pounds before the summer season, wish to network with and meet new colleagues from Valero or are simply looking for a fun and rewarding way to complete your community service hours for 2006, Velo Valero has something to offer you! Velo Valero is a non-competitive cycling team comprised of Valero employees, friends, and family members. We ride for fun, for good health and to raise money for worthy causes throughout the San Antonio community. We officially begin our training season for the year this coming weekend (March 4th) and will meet every Saturday from now until October to get ourselves in shape for the upcoming fundraising events. You don't have to be a professional athlete to ride with us…we have riders of all shapes, sizes, ages and experience levels. Everyone is welcome!

    This year, we are proud to continue our "NEW Riders Training Program." If you are a new rider, or are interested in riding but have some reservations, please join us for our:

    GENERAL INFORMATION MEETING - Monday, March 6th -11:30am - 1:00 pm

    Private Dining Room - Cafeteria

    We will cover what you'll need in terms of equipment and supplies, will review the rules of the road and provide other safety education, and will answer any and all questions you may have about cycling.     For all returning riders, please join us this Saturday as we begin training for our first event of the season, The Tour de Cure. See details below:
